THE UPS AND DOWNS OF THE END OF PRE-SEASON

Summer is almost over, now starts the hard work of the regular season. Its also the start of school, and mountains of homework. This weekend we kick off the season against some team that i have never heard of. But thats not the point, the objective is to start off on the right foot, with a win. Lately the days have been getting colder, i finally busted out the long sleeve training shirts. This weekend, my mom and I are going to the Louvre museum, to get my iPod fixed at the apple store. But other than that i am not doing much. After the first few days, i have progressively settled into the routine of spring training; its been easier than last year. What used to be my worst enemy, the track, has now become a friend. I can honestly say that i do not mind running on the track anymore. I think the only way to beat the track is not to fear it. Its a total mind game. Speaking in french all the time can really become a drag, especially with my accent. As i learned last year, the only thing worse than speaking in french all the time, is writing in french all the time. Why would someone make a language so complicated? Every weekend, i go to the local theater to watch a movie. The theater is probably the only thing that works the same here as back home. Been following the progress of hurricane Irene, on the local news, its getting a surprising amount of attention over here; hope it doesn't get too bad. During the last few weeks we have spent two or three practices with the under 19s. Their coach is old school, and never misses a chance to put-into-action his impressive vocal capacity to intimidate us. Last week, the doctor stopped me for five days, because of my hamstring injury. So that week i spent most of the time on the staionary bike, running in the woods, and in the swimming pool. I was disappointed to miss out on the end of the month tournament the team went to. That really sucked. This town is really sleepy, i guess its just that everyone is gone during summer, but still.... With my free time, i have been working on my guitar playing. Just repeating the same old scales over and over. Its monotonous but with the progress that i have made i'm really into it. What i like about the guitar, is that's when you practice its just you and the instrument. The time you put into it, is exactly what you get out of it. As opposed to soccer where there is a million different elements to consider every time you step on the field, its much more complicated. Its too bad that summer doesn't last all year. Soon all the trees will lose there leave and this whole place will become cold, grey and uninviting. Today we had our last training before our match. Some five against two    in a small square, then a small sided game, and to finish we hit some free kicks. Meanwhile last weekend the pros got a solid win, in their 3-1 victory over Toulouse. Its was Javier Pastore's first start, he had two assists and played brilliantly. After his performance i would have to agree with the general consensus, Pastore is world class. Hopefully he will be the man to take PSG to the next level.
Okay all of the above is outdated, cause i wrote it Friday. This is an update on current events. We won our first game of the season 3-1. It was one of those games where the score does not reflect the way the two teams played. With the difficulties that we had against a very mediocre team, we are going to have step up our game if we want to compete with the top teams this year. We definitely have the quality but we also have a lot of younger players. As for me i didn't start. But when i came on, i feel that i did my part to help the team. I don't really know why i did not get the start, cause i feel like i amply deserved it. Maybe it was because i missed the tournament the week before. I am not gonna try not to read too much into it. After all it was the first game. Also Nicholas Anelka the FC Chelsea player decided to make a guest appearance at our game, it was pretty awesome. School starts next Monday, so its the last week of summer.."sigh"... Keeping up a blog is easier said than done. But i will try and post more often. Got practice at 9:30am tomorrow.
